Firetide, a privately held early stage wireless technology company, develops networking equipment to deploy large Wi-Fi networks quickly, easily, and affordably.

Firetide offers a tremendous opportunity to accelerate the rapid growth of wireless networks. The mass deployment of Wi-Fi hotspots by service providers has been hampered by the challenges of installing extensive premise cabling to large numbers of Wi-Fi access-points. Major wireless service providers have fallen behind their deployment plans, not due to lack of demand, but due to deployment difficulties associated with installation.

Firetide solves the deployment problems by unwiring the access-point network. Using advanced wireless mesh routing technologies, the network backhaul between the access-points and an aggregating switch becomes wireless. Access-points no longer require expensive premise wiring. Eliminating expensive cabling makes building and managing wireless networks easier, faster, and significantly less expensive. Networks can be built-out by simply providing power to Firetide's equipment. Firetide makes possible nearly instant wireless networks.

Firetide will drive the wireless networking industry forward by providing solutions that extend the current HotSpot wireless revolution towards "HotZones" where campuses, office buildings, hotels, and airports have Wi-Fi access. Firetide's solutions will eventually enable "HotRegions" that offer seamless wireless connectivity throughout major metropolitan areas and wide geographic regions.
